Am sure most of us were over joyed when safaricom launched the vuma online wifi service.w thought of how our journeys would be full of online time and countless downloads.
Even the matatu operators saw it as a big boost to the business ..increase in customers of course would have come with an added advantage of hiking the fare.
Though not blaming safaricom,the idea was great and would have numerous advantages more so to the youth who were the target..easy access to information and the like. Safaricom should have deviced a means to make sure the wifi is fully functional. For most maratus they have the network but no internet connection. Reason being they cannot get to use part of their profit to buy the bundles ..the idea was that they would be purchasing 1.5 G of data daily which goes for 1K. This is much for matatus deducted from daily earnings. And it also doesn't translate to customers since their no is still the same and pay same amount.
Safaricom need to rethink the idea or just leave it to those wailing to offer it to their customers.
